Game Description

The Sims (also known as The Sims 1 or The Sims Classic) is a life-simulation video game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts on February 4, 2000 for Windows, and July 25, 2000 for Mac OS X. The game only has a single-player mode. There is no goal defined in The Sims, and players must develop their characters as they go through different life stages. Characters which the player controls can interact with other in-game characters, develop relationships (both negative and positive) and can even start families together. Characters can also be assigned certain tasks to develop life skills, which enables them to progress in their careers and increase their salaries.

  1. For those who’ve gotten to the point where you can’t move a family in or save, try running the exe as an administrator.

  2. I don’t know if I did something wrong, but I believed I followed everything above correctly. (They are good instructions, honestly.) I was able to get the home screen of the Sims open but then the message of “Could not find The Sims data directory” and it doesn’t open.

    Anyone able to help?

  3. Thank you so much for uploading this! It works perfectly! However, do you, by chance, know how I can get the resolution to my native which is 1366×768. I couldn’t find a config file either.

  4. I don’t see an ISO file in the Windows download. I downloaded the file, extracted the zipped folder, then opened the file to look for the ISO but I can’t find it. What’s the full name of the ISO file?

  5. Whenever I make a family and move them into a house or empty lot, my family is lost. It’ll take me to the house or empty lot and my sims won’t be there and I’ll have no money. If there’s any fix for this please let me know! I’d really love to be able to properly play this game again!
