It says I can’t install it because drive C is full? Any idea how I can fix that? I didn’t even know there was a drive C on mac.
Oh and to clarify, I’m trying to download this game on my mac using wine.
I use Linux with WINE but what the programs see as the C:/ is part of your wine folder (in Linux it’s under home > .wine, and you have to pick the option to show hidden files/folders), it sounds maybe like a file permissions bug, but I haven’t encountered this error personally. You might have more success with the winehq site or subreddit.
i cant by the love of me get this to work, i follow the steps one by one, everything went ok with the installation, with the crack and the serial number, but when i press the sims icon to start the game, it flickers between resolutions for a few moments and shut down. anyone found any solution for this?
If you’re using Windows 10 / 11, have you tried the Resolution fix (seen here: https://youtu.be/R6_hJFXhOlo )
The Neighbourhood screen is still in an ungodly low resolution, but to my knowledge this is the best available with current hardware.
OK – anyone having issue with start.exe not working/showing up — I did this and it worked;
Go to
Game Files>Setup>Setup.exe
Double click the Setup.exe inside of the Setup folder
Do
NOT use the start.exe just inside of “Game Files”. It doesn’t work if you
have this issue, and only takes up space in your task manager…

Pressing start.exe does nothing. Task manager says its running, but I never get any install wizard or asked to put in a code… running on windows XP 2 compatibility mode. Tried restarting and attempting again, same thing happens. please help T-T
I’m having and I issues running it. I downloaded it opens the launcher but when I click play, it just pops op that I need to run it using an administrative login (which I am). I tried right clicking and clicking run as administrator and it again opens the launcher but when I click play, it doesn’t open anything, nothing happens.
I´m having problems installing the game. In the past I have installed the game, but uninstalled, and probably the wrong way.
Some days ago I decided I wanted to play it again. After downloading the zip file, and running “setup.exe”, the game opens as normal, the install shield wizard apears, but then a message also pop’s up and says “error while extracting support arquives: catastrophic failure”.
I think the problem is the preious install I did of the game, that was poorly uninstalled, but when I try to uninstall it trough the settings app and the control panel the same ” catastrophic failure” apeears.
If someone would come down from heaven above and help me, ;P I would apreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
So i tried doing it the websites method, and i tried doing it through the support folder with the “The sims complete.code.exe” file, I get a box that says put in the code (which i put in this code BYNW-EUXH-Z3D2-GS5J-CPF9) and that works, but then nothing happens. I tried looking for the “x86/Maxis” folder, but it doesn’t exist.
Running “setup.exe” just says “setup is having trouble shutting down the autoplay program” and doesn’t let me continue.
running “start.exe” doesn’t appear to do anything.
Obviosuly Running “Sims.exe” in the sims cracked folder just says “Could not find The Sims Directory” which makes sense because nothing installed it yet.
As of right now it doesn’t seem to work. Im gonna try restarting my computer and coming back.
Edit: Restart after running “setup.exe” worked
hi! i keep getting an error that just says “setup is having trouble shutting down the autoplay program” im using windows 10 and running it in compataility mode doesnt work i tried installing trough the “setup and “start” method
Hey! i managed to get my game working.
You have to run the “setup.exe” then restart your computer. then come back top it and it should work.
hi! that managed to work and it installed thank you so much! now im having the issue that the crack wont paste into the sims folder it keeps saying “windows cant create a shortcut would you liek to create one on the deskptop instead”
nevermind i figured it out! i had to literally copy and paste it instead of dragging it in. thank you again for helping!!
I can’t get it to run on Windows 10, followed the instruction with no problems, copying the crack and override the original file. When launched the game glitched between resolutions for a few moments then disappears
The information in the how to play section is inaccurate.
1. Download
2. Extract zipped folder.
3. Locate Setup Folder.
4. run setup.exe.
5. Enter CD key and wait for install to complete.
6. select register later.
7. select finish.
8. Copy sims.exe from The Sims Crack folder to the installation folder of the game. Select replace file
9. launch the game
It asks me to insert the disc… any ideas?
I have the same problem
Whenever I try to click on the icon on my desktop to start playing it just says “vould not find The Sims directory” what do I do?
Hi! I followed every step but when I enter in the village the game closes… What I can do to fix this?
Thank you so much for bringing back my old memories through this incredible game! Works completely fine!
