Finally worked .I installed DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) instead of the dxwebsetup.exe in Win 10: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
Also I added a space then -w behind the target path of the shortcut in desktop after the ”
as shown in the picture so it always runs in windowed mode

When I try to download dxwebsetup.exe i get an error message saying “setup could not download the file. Please retry later or check network connection”
Game crashes every time I try to launch, no idea why. Any solutions for this?I tried reinstalling twice still won’t load, loading menu of game starts but crashes upon completion of loading page.Game intro runs normally. Followed the install instructions carefully as well. Thanks for any help.

So I managed to download and get the game installed and it launches fine, but when I go to actually play it there are no neighborhoods, and it doesn’t let me make a custom one; I even tried to launch the how to play section but that makes it crash, anyone know a fix for this?

Hey 🙂 first of all thank you for this, everything works perfectly fine apart from one tiny detail. I cannot edit the shadows in the in-game settings. Any tip on how to fix that? Thanks in advance!
I thought the same. I tried to change the shadows settings in the town view and I couldn’t. I then loaded into a random family and checked the settings again – this time I could change the shadow settings. So it appears to only be possible once you’re in a game 🙂 Hope this helps
Hi I hope I can help because I am currently battling with my CD versions of the game as well. So there is this program called Graphics Rules Maker for the Sims games and when you downlaod it, it gives you some options for your game. on the website you can see a tutorial on what you should preferably tik and how to set up the program in order for your game to work on windows 10. The program has an option for disabling shadows in game which will disable the option for shadows in the game altogether. Hope this helps!

Simply add the CC you’d like to use in your game to the downloads folder, If you do not have one yet you need to create one, Simply make a folder and title it “Downloads”

Yes you can. Just download your CC and then go to Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2 and then find Downloads. If there isn’t a downloads folder, create one and put your CC in there. Make sure you have downloaded any meshes needed, and extracted all RAR/ZIP files into downloads too.
Yes you can I have a non official download of the sims 3 and I have loads of cc and mods in my game. 😀

theres several websites that offers different cc, i recommend modthesims.info. Once you have downloaded a cc, simply extract it to the ‘Downloads’ folder in Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2. If theres no downloads folder, create one and name it Downloads.

it’s supposed to be the ultimate collection, but when i load it up the menu says “sims 2 mansion and garden stuff” kinda confused
That was the last pack released, they never did a special Ultimate Edition loading screen graphic.
