Whenever I try to create a sim the game crashes after a minute and sims are very light. I have installed directX which was together with the files and i have got graphics rules maker. Is there anything I can do to make the game work?
before entering cas, open cheat box and type “boolProp useShaders false” (without the quote) and press enter.
If the problem persist, open cheat box and type “boolprop useShaders true” and press enter.
Thank you for the help but it turned out that I had to run graphic rules maker as an admin because I couldn’t save the settings and that’s why my game was broke
So Im redownloading now however last time all the neighborhoods were gone from the select screen it didint do this on my previous computer however now it seems to. Im on windows 11 so potentially thats the problem. I tried downlaoding the mod to fix the neighborhoods however that didint work. Please respond and help. thanks

This is after I’ve tried dxwebsetup,exe which tells me: “DirectX setup has determined that a newer or equivalent version of DirectX has been installed already. No installation is necessary.”

Unfortunately that’s gone straight over my head. The dxwebsetup.exe is the only file in the Redist folder.
It’s fine now, i just downloaded the Graphics Rules Maker and i’ve got it running perfectly. Thanks so much 🙂
Hi I selected the ultimate collection to download which works, but when I go in it opens the Mansion and Garden stuff pack. On my desktop it says that it’s the Ultimate Collection but when I hover the mouse over the icon, I can see the pack specific info. Does anyone know what I’ve done wrong?
You’re fine. It’s because Mansion and Garden Stuff was the last pack to be released for the Sims 2
no you didnt do any thing wrong just click ok if you added mods
Where do I copy my mods to? Every tutorial says to put it in a specific folder that I don’t have since this isn’t an official version of the game. Someone please help me lol
You have to create a folder named “Downloads” yourself
dude follow my step copy your mods Put them in Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 > Downloads. easy same as the cc when you play you should see your mods aslo make sure mods and cc is enabled by checking everything in settings until you find enable custom contect the close the game then boom done i hoped i helped i aslo forgot click ok if a message shows up
I don’t have an EA games folder. My folder is MR DJ and when I try to apply those steps into the Mr DJ folder it doesn’t work
Thank you! Nobody here seems to get that we don’t get an “EA Games” folder when we download this version. That’s what you’d get if you bought the original game. I wish someone could tell us how to fix this…

for anyone getting a blank error message upon game startup: what worked for me was downloading the graphics rule maker from simsnetwork.
just wondering is this is legal or not as i want to download but im dumb and dont know if this is considerd pirating?

My previous comment was uninformed. Abandonware is semi legal, but ea hates this kinda stuff.
100% illegal but not necessarily immoral. As long you don’t go flaunting your crimes, you shouldn’t have any issues.
Anyone have any ideas about how to address loading the game up but no neighborhood options appearing? Everything opens fine, but when I try to play there simply aren’t any neighborhood options or ways to make a neighborhood…

after the game is set up, are setup1.bin and setup2.bin still needed, or can they be deleted?
they can be deleted. Just deleted the whole downloaded stuff to save more disk space
Followed all the instructions, and when trying to load the game, it crashes every time.

No idea why, but even with low or shadows off I still get the black box below the sims when indoors. Rebooted game as well after the changes to make sure, no change 🙁

I had to uninstall after vigorous searching for the expansion packs. I do not see them anywhere in files and they aren’t there when you boot up the game. I do not have any ad blocker that blocked anything, they just aren’t in the files? If there’s a solution please let me know, thank you.
They are in the game. In loading screen it shows mansion and garden because it was the last pack to be released to the sims 2.
