Epilepsy Warning ---------------------- Some people may have an epileptic seizure or loss of consciousness when exposed to flashing lights or certain normal conditions of everyday life. Such persons could risk a seizure while watching televised images or while playing video games, and this can occur even if there have been no previous medical problems or experience of epilepsy. If you or a member of your family has ever shown signs of epileptic symptoms (seizure or loss of consciousness) when exposed to flickering lights, consult your doctor before playing. Parents should supervise their children’s use of video games. If you or your children experience any of the following symptoms --dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitches, loss of consciousness, disorientation, involuntary movements or convulsions-- discontinue use immediately and consult your doctor. Please take the following general precautions when playing video games: Do not sit too close to the screen; position yourself with the linking cable at full stretch. Play video games preferably on a small screen. Do not play if you are tired or have not had much sleep. Make sure that the room in which you are playing is well lit. Rest for 10-15 minutes per hour while playing video games. Game warning ------------------ Wall Street Trader 2000 is a game and shall be solely used as such. Wall Street Trader 2000 shall not constitute the basis or provide with any grounds for any decision, including but not limited to financial investments or divestments, outside the scope of the game. ========================================================== == System Requirements == ========================================================== IBM PC and Compatibles. The most powerful processors can be slowed down by poor video cards, thus diminishing the gaming pleasure of Wall Street Trader 2000 because of its dependence on visuals. ========================================================== == Troubleshooting == ========================================================== 1/ If a problem occurs with the sound or video portions of Wall Street Trader 2000: * Verify that the Multimedia components have been successfully installed on your machine. If they aren't there, you must install them. The steps are: Start -> Settings -> Control Panel Add/Remove Programs Windows Setup Multimedia * Check to see if there is an incompatibility problem between DirectX drivers and your computer configuration: for example, Wall Street Trader 2000’s DirectX drives will not work with Compaqs that are equipped with MediaGX processors. * Users of some video cards may experience loss of video adapter functionality after installing DirectX drivers. If so, read DirectX documentation or contact Microsoft for further information at: http://support.microsoft.com/support/directx/ 2/ If Wall Street Trader 2000 fails to start up, please confirm that: * A sound card has been properly installed on your computer. * The Power!Video has been properly installed. If so, you should find two files in the SYSTEM folder in Windows: PVEZ32.DRV and PVEZW32D.DLL. You also should find the following line in the SYSTEM.INI, in the section [drivers32]: vidc.pvez=pvez32.drv. * BDE has been properly installed. This program is required to run Wall Street Trader 2000’s financial database engine. Verify that a previous version of BDE is not in conflict with the new one--if there is a previous version, you should see a DBE Administrator icon in the Configuration Panel. * The DirectX drivers have been properly installed and are the ones that correspond to your computer’s configuration requirements. In case of problems, go to the Configuration Panel and in the Add/Delete program box, select DirectX Drivers. Verify that all drivers are marked "certified". You can always bring back these drivers, by choosing the option, Restore Drivers.
