****************************************************************** ** Theme Park World readme file ** ** 2nd November 1999 ** ****************************************************************** NOTES ----- WINDOWS 2000 USERS We have successfully tested Theme Park World on the pre-release version of Windows 2000 that was available at the release of the game. However, as the Windows 2000 drivers had not yet been finalised, we cannot guarantee the game's performance on this operating system. SOFTWARE RENDERING MODE When selecting Software Render from the in-game options screen, you will only have Low and Medium graphics quality options available. TROUBLE SHOOTING ---------------- EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS RUNNING THEME PARK WORLD? When you load Theme Park World, the game attempts to find the best graphics option for your machine. It is possible that this check can fail because of non-standard hardware or drivers. Should you have any problems running the game, please run the following utility: SAFEMODE.BAT. This file can be found in the directory to which you installed the game, which is probably C:\Program Files\ Bullfrog\Theme Park World. This will set the lowest graphic options for this game, and disable the use of any 3D hardware. If you have a 3D graphics card installed, and this method is successful in running the game, you can use the options screen in-game to re-enable your graphics card, and then select higher detail options one by one to find out which one is causing the problems. FLICKERING CURSOR If you experience flickering or other corruption on the mouse cursor in-game, then try the following: From the Windows desktop, click on the Start menu and select Run. In the text box which appears, type the following line: "c:\program files\bullfrog\theme park world\tp.exe" /flmouse Note: this assumes you installed the game to the default directory. If you did not, you need to change this line accordingly. If you still experience problems, try following the instructions above, but instead using this line: "c:\program files\bullfrog\theme park world\tp.exe" /bwcursor 3DFX CARDS Owners of early 3DFX graphics cards such as Voodoo1 should choose to run the game using their primary video card from the in-game options screen, and select software rendering. ALT-TAB SWITCHING You may use Alt-Tab to switch between the game and the Windows desktop. However, when switching back to the game it is possible that some graphics may become corrupted. This depends on your video card and driver - if you experience this problem, we suggest that you do not use the Alt-Tab function. NON-MMX MACHINES PCs which are not equipped with MMX technology, including early Pentium and Pentium Pro-based machines, are not supported by Theme Park World. UNSUPPORTED FEATURES -------------------- There are extra detail options which are not supported by Bullfrog, but which are included in the game. These options, such as Sky Shadow, Triple Buffering and 32-bit rendering may be introduced into the game by editing one of three text files: low.sam, med.sam and high.sam. These correspond to the low, medium and high detail options in the game, and can be found in your game install directory, in the data folder. ****************************************************************** IMPORTANT: Before you edit these files, be sure to make a backup copy of each so you can easily restore the settings back to their default. ****************************************************************** DISCLAIMER: Because the options are unsupported, we can accept no responsibility/liability for any problems arising from their use. IF YOU EDIT THESE FILES YOU DO SO ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. Software in the Theme Park World (c)1999 Electronic Arts Inc. All Rights Reserved.
