For more detailed information on setting up your Windows environment, or fixing any problems that you may encounter with THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS-EXPLORES THE SOLAR SYSTEM, please double-click on the BUS HELP-SOLAR SYSTEM icon in Program Manager. If you are having trouble locating the BUS HELP-SOLAR SYSTEM file, try the following: >From Program Manager File menu, choose Run. In the dialog box, type the following command, substituting letter of your CD-ROM drive for drive d: and press ENTER. winhelp D:\msbsolar\readme.hlp ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ********************** * * * GETTING STARTED * * * ********************** Installing The Magic School Bus - Explores the Solar System: Prior to running Setup, disable all anti-virus programs (see instructions at the end of this document). Start Microsoft Windows. Insert The Magic School Bus - Explores the Solar System CD-ROM in your CD-ROM Drive. >From Program Manager File menu, choose Run. In the dialog box, type the following command, substituting letter of your CD-ROM drive for and press ENTER. :\setup Follow the instructions on the Setup screen. Setup will create several icons in the Microsoft Kids program group. The "Magic School Bus - Solar System" icon is used to start the program. The "Bus Help - Solar System" icon is for access to the HELP file. The "Kids Catalog" icon is a preview of other Microsoft Home applications. ------------------------------------------------------------- ************************************ * * * DISABLING ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAMS * * * ************************************ If you are running any Anti-Virus sentry-type of software in your AUTOEXEC.BAT, disable it by doing the following: a. If you have MS-DOS 6.0 or later, restart your machine. When the following message appears on your screen: Starting MS-DOS Press the F8 key. This causes MS-DOS to ask you whether or not to execute each line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS. b. If your machine asks you if you want to execute your virus sentry program (it will have a filename such as CPAV.EXE, NAV.EXE, VIR???.EXE, etc.), press the "n" key. c. If you are running MS-DOS 5.0 or earlier, open your AUTOEXEC.BAT in a text editor and place the letters "REM" (without the quotation marks) at the beginning of each line that starts a virus sentry program. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please double-click on the BUS HELP-SOLAR SYSTEM icon in Program Manager for additional information regarding The Magic School Bus- Explores the Solar System.
