AlphaBonk Farm 2.0 Windows Release Notes 9/28/95 This document contains information on running the setup program and troubleshooting the AlphaBonk Farm CD on the PC/Windows platform. ----------------------------------- RUNNING SETUP.EXE ----------------------------------- To set up the proper program icon and program group for Windows 3.1, in the Program Manager choose "run" from the "File" menu. Select the "browse" button when it apears in the following window. Locate the "setup.exe" file located on your "d:" drive (or whatever drive letter your CD-ROM drive is mapped to). Select "OK." The Setup program will create a "Headbone" program group and within that group, icons named "AlphaBonk Farm" and "Headbone CDROM Sampler." The Setup program does not install any files onto your hard disk; instead, it creates a program group called "Headbone," if it does not already exist, and adds the two program icons. Although these icons will always be visible in Windows, you will only be able to run AlphaBonk Farm or the Sampler program when the CD is in your CD-ROM drive. If you do not wish to run "setup.exe" and create the program group and icons, you can run AlphaBonk Farm directly from the Program Manager. To do so, follow the instructions above for running the Setup program, except replace "setup.exe" with "alphbnk.exe". You can also run the Sampler program in this manner by selecting "sampler.exe". ----------------------------------- Windows 95 Auto Play ------------------------------------------- The Windows 95 AutoPlay feature will start AlphaBonk Farm automatically when the CD is inserted into the drive; however, this may take a several moments. Sometimes even a minute or two. While it's loading up it will appear as if nothing is happening except that your CD drive access light will blink intermittantly. Please be patient with Windows 95 (get a cup of coffee or glass of milk, as appropriate) and wait for the program to begin. If you attempt to run other programs or access the desktop while AutoPlay is starting up, the Sampler program may be hidden by windows on your desktop or may appear in the wrong colors. To suppress AutoPlay, hold down the SHIFT key when inserting the CD. ----------------------------------- TROUBLESHOOTING WINDOWS ---------------------------------- Most problems are related to device drivers for video boards, sound boards, or CD-ROM drives. Problems caused by incompatible device drivers may include General Protection Fault error messages, slow or erratic performance, sound distortion or lack of sound. If you experience these or any other technical difficulties, check to make sure that you are using the latest driver for your video or sound adapter. Contact the manufacturer of your computer, video adapter or sound adapter for assistance in determining if you have the latest version of the driver. The AlphaBonk Farm CD should be run in 640x480 mode with 256 colors. Turn off all other programs, including screen savers, virus detection software, etc., before playing.
