IBM PC 233MHz Pentium II compatible or faster
Windows 95/98 and DirectX 7
16MB RAM
Double-speed CD-ROM drive
Hard drive (3MB free)
DirectX-compatible sound card

IBM PC 300MHz Pentium II compatible or faster
32MB RAM
Quad-speed CD-ROM drive
Second generation 3-D graphics accelerator (Direct3D supported)



INSTALLATION

The installation program will automatically run when the CD-ROM is inserted.

DirectX is a set of components provided by Microsoft and is required by most
popular games.  DirectX 7 is provided on the CD-ROM if you need to install it, 
or upgrade a previous version.  The install program will give you an option to 
install DirectX.  Note that installing DirectX requires an additional 15MB of 
hard drive space.  If you wish to install it at a later time, run the dxsetup.exe 
file located in the \DirectX directory on the CD-ROM.



GAME OPTIONS

Skill Level	Sets the driving skill of computer controlled vehicles
Control		Keyboard, Joystick, Wheel 
Graphics Detail	Set this to Low to improve the game's performance
Weather	Enables random rain storms	



RACE MODES

Single Race	A timed and ranked race with the chosen track and vehicle class
Circuit Race	Race on all tracks.  You must place in the top three to 
		qualify for the next race.  Points are awarded based on
		rank.
Practice	Take a joyride with the chosen track and vehicle class



KEYBOARD CONTROLS

Left Shift	Acceleration
Ctrl		Brake
Arrow Keys	Steering
Enter		Change camera view
Q		Forward
W		Reverse
A		Gear Up
Z		Gear Down
M		Switch between manual and automatic transmission
Alt + J		Switch between keyboard and joystick/wheel
Alt + F4	Exit the game
Alt + P		Pause the game
<esc>		End the current race



JOYSTICK/WHEEL CONTROLS

Joystick Up	Accelerate
Joystick Down	Brake
Joystick Left	Steer left
Joystick Right	Steer right

Joystick B2	Change view (In-car, chase)

CONFIGURATION PROGRAM

The configuration program (SCCONFIG.EXE) is provided to allow some game
settings to be customized.  A shortcut to this program is created in the
Sprint Car Racing program group.

RenderMode: Choose between Direct3D and Software
		Direct3D requires a 3D accelerator video card.  If you do not
		have one, choose Software.

Video Mode: Set the screen resolution
		Choose the resolution most appropriate for your system.
		A smaller resolution will improve performance on slower systems. 

Music Volume: Set the desired volume for Demo and Race music

Player Name: The name entered will be seen in the High Score screen.
		15 character maximum.

Joystick Buttons: Designate a button number for each action
		The buttons on your joystick are numbered sequentially (see 
		the documentation for your peripheral).  



TROUBLESHOOTING

Insufficient disk space
If you have problems with the game setup, please do the following:
  1. Check the hard drive for available space.
  2. As needed, back up and clear some files to get more free hard drive space.
  3. Reinstall the game.


Poor game performance
If the game is fuzzy or slow, try the following:
  1. Double-check the system requirements for Sprint Car Racing against your PC
     configuration. You need the minimum system to run this game.
  2. Run ScanDisk and Disk Defragmenter to optimize your hard-drive.
     This will enable the game to load faster.
  3. Adjust the game's video mode using the Sprint Car Configuration
     program.
  4. Set the Graphics Detail option (Main Menu > Options) to Low.


Problem using 400x300 resolution
Some video cards may not run the game in this resolution.  If you experience problems,
choose a different video mode using the Sprint Car Configuration program.
