Planet Blupi (version 1.7) -------------------------- 1. Configuration ------------- OS Microsoft Windows 95 CPU at least Pentium 60 (Pentium 120 recommended) RAM 8 Mbytes CD-ROM Double speed (300 Kbytes/seconds minimum) VIDEO 1 Mb local bus, compatible with Microsoft DirectDraw, 640x468 pixels, 256 colors SOUND Any sound card supported by Windows 95 INPUT Keyboard and mouse HARD DISK 30 Mbytes free space required 2. Installation ------------ Execute "Install" to install DirectX and Planet Blupi in a folder on your hard disk. Planet Blupi requires DirectX, a Microsoft extension that enables games to run faster (see below). The installation program asks if you want to install DirectX on your Computer. The Planet Blupi CD-Rom must be inserted when you play. 3. Microsoft DirectX ----------------- This game requires Microsoft DirectX 3.0A for Windows 95. DirectX increases game speed because the software has immediate access to all hardware. DirectX software is relatively new on the market hence not all video cards are compatible with this product. Most hardware manufacturers supply new drivers for video cards that are compatible with Microsoft DirectX. After having installed Planet Blupi and DirectX, verify that the application is accepted by your Computer. To do so, execute the "Dxsetup" program from your CD-Rom : 1) Insert the "Planet Blupi" CD in your drive 2) Double click on the "My Computer" icon 3) Double click on your CD-Rom icon 4) Open the DirectX folder 5) Double click on the "Dxsetup" icon All DirectX 3.0A compatible drivers will be listed on the screen. - If the third column is empty and no version number shown, stability and performance are unknown. - If the third column states that the software is not accepted the driver, this means that it is not compatible with DirectX. Software emulation will therefore be required. The processor will be used to do this, however in some cases, this can fail. In both cases we recommend that you refer to the manufacturer for all updates. To do so you can contact him via Interment. 4. Mouse problems -------------- If the mouse reacts abnormally or slowly, you may resort to one of the following procedures : 1) Quit the game "Planet Blupi". 2) Open the file "Data\Config.def" with Windows Notepad. 3) Replace "MouseType=1" by "MouseType=2". 4) Save and restart the game. However if this does not work, try with "MouseType=3". 5. Screen problems --------------- What ever your screen resolution is, the game "Planet Blupi" always runs in 640x480 mode with 256 colors, on full screen. If your screen does not support this mode, you may run the game in windowed mode. Proceed as follows: 1) Quit the game "Planet Blupi". 2) Open the file "Data\Config.def" with Windows Notepad. 3) Replace "FullScreen=1" by "FullScreen=0". 4) Save and restart the game. The game will run faster if your screen is set to 256 colors. In this mode the screen is no more scrolled if the mouse touches the window border. Use the Keyboard arrows instead. 6. CD-Rom problems --------------- If the CD-Rom drive letter changes, for instance if you have installed a second hard disk, Planet Blupi will not run anymore. In order to run the game you must proceed as follows : 1) Open the file "Data\Config.def" with Windows Notepad. 2) Replace "CD-Rom=D:\ENGLISH" par "CD-Rom=E:\ENGLISH" (for example). 4) Save and restart the game. 7. Mouse ----- Left button : This button is always used in three steps : 1) Select a Blupi. 2) Click where you want him to act. 3) Click the button corresponding to the required operation. If the chosen Blupi is already selected (blue or red circle around him), step 1) is not necessary. You may select several Blupis by maintaining the Caps button pressed. Right button : The right button is a shortcut. It orders the selected Blupi to do the most useful operation on the selected spot. 8. Keyboard -------- Arrows Scrolls the visible part of the scene.
