SECTION 10: SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TIPS ================================================================ It is advisable to maintain your machine to prevent errors/crashes from occurring. We recommend that you run Scandisk and Defrag on your hard drive(s) to prevent data loss/corruption at least once a month. These tools can easily be found by double clicking the 'My Computer' icon on the desktop, right clicking on your hard drives, choosing properties, and then clicking on the Tools tab. It is also advisable to check with the machine manufacturer to ensure that your drivers are current and up to date. Sound and Video Card manufacturers often release a number of new driver versions in a year to enable the user to get the best out of their hardware. These drivers often contain improvements and sometimes include bug fixes for known problems. Please contact your manufacturer/supplier for details. Emptying your recycle bin and your \windows\temp folder can free up space that may be required by some programs to operate correctly. Make sure that no programs are open or running when emptying your temp folder. DirectX also comes with a utility called DXDIAG which is located in the "\program files\directx\setup" folder on your hard drive. From here you can check to see if your drivers are compatible with DirectX and test your devices to see if there are any problems. When installing and running LEGO My Style Preschool it is advisable to close down any other applications that you have running in the background. If you experience 'slowdowns' or similar issues while running the software it may be due to other programs using resources needed by LEGO My Style Preschool to run correctly. SECTION 11: KNOWN ISSUES IN THIS RELEASE ================================================================ Distorted & low audio - With the compact installation, Users with a Micronics motherboard model M75-Hi with on-board Vibra16c audio enabledgarbled audio as well as uncorrectable low volume levels. Distorted audio - Users with the combination of the Hercules Thriller 3D video card and the Sound Blaster AudioPC164V audio chipset will encounter distorted audio throughout game play. Intermittent freezes of game play & audio - Users with a Cyrix processor less then 266 MHz and a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! sound card may experience brief freezes in game play and sound. This issue can be resolved by choosing the Full Installation of the application or updating the Sound Blaster Live! drivers to LIVEWIRE 2.0 or higher Intermittent audio - User with a sound card with the Crystal CS4232 audio chipset (4.03.2500) may experience Intermittent audio play back. Excessive install times - The NEC CD-ROM drive model #282 has been found to yield excessive install times as well as excessive waits for the autorun screen to appear. Audio difficulties with hardware accelerated sound cards - Some users with sound cards that offer hardware acceleration may encounter audio difficulties if the hardware acceleration is not set to the basic level. An example of these sound cards would be the Aureal Vortex and Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! soundcards.
