THE README FILE (v. 1.0d) The Dora the Explorer(tm) - Animal Adventures CD-ROM game has a ReadMe file where you can view both the License Agreement and updated information about the game. We strongly encourage you to take the time to read this file in order to get the benefit of changes made after this manual went to print. Windows® users: To view this file, double-click on it in the Animal Adventures directory found on your hard drive (usually C:\Program Files\Atari\Animal Adventures). You can also view the ReadMe file by first clicking on the Start button on your Win98/Me/2000/XP taskbar, then on Programs, then on Atari, then on Animal Adventures, then on the ReadMe item. INSTRUCTION MANUAL Included on this product's game disc is an electronic version of the game's Instruction Manual in .pdf format, Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.1 (which enables you to view the manual in .pdf format), and an Install Guide file explaining how to access and use these features. Please refer to the Install Guide file by clicking on the Start button on your Windows® taskbar and then selecting Programs > Atari > Animal Adventures > Animal Adventures Install Guide. SETUP AND INSTALLATION ************************** 1. Start Windows® 98/Me/2000/XP. 2. Insert the Dora the Explorer - Animal Adventures CD-ROM game disc into your CD-ROM drive. 3. If AutoPlay is enabled, a title screen should appear. Click on the Install button to install the game. If AutoPlay is not enabled, or the installation does not start automatically, double-click on the "My Computer" icon on your Win98/Me desktop or, for WinXP, click on the Start menu button, then select "My Computer". Next, double-click on the CD-ROM icon to open a window for the Animal Adventures CD-ROM. If the install screen still does not appear, locate the "setup" file in the Animal Adventures window and double-click on it to start the installation. 4. Follow the remainder of the on-screen instructions to finish installing the Dora the Explorer - Animal Adventures CD-ROM game. 5. Once installation is complete, double-click on the Animal Adventures game icon on the desktop to start the game. Installation of DirectX® The Dora the Explorer - Animal Adventures CD-ROM requires DirectX® 9.0 or higher in order to run. If you do not have DirectX® 9.0 or higher installed on your computer, click "Yes" when asked if you would like to install it. Uninstallation of the game The Install button on the title screen changes to Uninstall once the game has been installed. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall. If AutoPlay is not enabled, click on the Start button in your Windows® taskbar, then select Settings, then Control Panel, then click Add/Remove Programs. Select Animal Adventures from the list of programs, then click the Add/Remove button. If you choose to uninstall through the windows programs menu, click on the Start button on your windows taskbar, then select Programs (All Programs on XP system), then Atari, then Animal Adventures, then click on "Uninstall Animal Adventures". Note: You must have the Dora the Explorer - Animal Adventures game CD in your CD-ROM drive to play. 3. KNOWN HARDWARE ISSUES ************************ 4. KNOWN SOFTWARE ISSUES ************************ 1) WIN95 WITHOUT DIRECT X -- If you have Win95 operating system without DirectX drivers (or if you have a version lower than DirectX 6.0), you'll be prompted to download DCOM after installing DirectX 9.0 and rebooting. Just follow the onscreen instructions for download and install. 2) If your Animal Adventures autorun screen displays as greyscale graphics instead of color graphics, you may choose to set your color settings to 16 bit color. Note that this will only affect the autorun screen, as the game sets to 16 bit automatically, so the in game graphics appear correctly. To change your settings on Windows 98 or Windows ME, go to StartMenu\Settings\Control Panel. Then click on the Display icon and then on the Settings tab, and then finally set the Color setting to High Color (16 bit). To change your color settings on Windows XP, go to Start Menu/Control Panel. Then click on the Display icon and then on the Settings tab, and then finally set the Color setting to High Color (16 bit). 3) On Windows ME or Windows XP, you may receive this error message under certain circumstances: "Ddhelp: The program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down". Please reboot your computer and reinstall DirectX 9.0 to resolve the problem. To reinstall DirectX 9.0, use Windows Explorer to browse to the DirectX9 folder on the Dora Animal Adventures CD. Double click on the dxsetup.exe file to reinstall DirectX 9.0. 4) Minimum installation: If you experience audio stuttering, long pauses in audio sequences, or the application hangs frequently, uninstall Dora the Explorer: Animal Adventures, then reinstall it, selecting the Complete (Recommended) configuration. 5. LIMITED WARRANTY AND DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES You are aware and agree that use of the Software and the media on which is recorded is at your sole risk. The Software and media are supplied "AS IS." Unless otherwise provided by applicable law, the Company warrants to the original purchaser of this product that the Software storage medium will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for ninety (90) days from the date of purchase. The warranty is void if the defect has arisen through accident, abuse, neglect or misapplication. If the Software fails to conform to this warranty, you may at your sole and exclusive remedy, obtain a replacement free of charge if you return the defective Software.
