You may download and install the latest version by going to this link: http://windowsmedia.com/download/download.asp Car Tycoon also requires about 600 MB of free hard disk space after the game has been installed to make temporary files. Additionally, each game can take up to 50 megabytes of hard disk space. The game itself runs only in 1024x768 resolution. Your monitor and video card must be capable of this resolution in order to successfully play the game. Finally, we have identified some problems with some of the older 3dfx Voodoo/Banshee cards. These cards have limited driver support at this point, which makes supporting them in new software somewhat difficult. Please try upgrading your system to DirectX 8 (http://www.microsoft.com/directx), and then downloading and installing the latest official driver for your card from http://www.voodoofiles.com ============================================================== 2) Multiplayer ============== This version of Car Tycoon does not support multiplayer play. This may be addressed in a future patch to be released in early 2002. ============================================================== 3) Gameplay Hints and Changes ============================= Press F1 while in the game to display the current keyboard settings and the current scenario objective. The control panel contains a few additional icons on the left side. Click the >AD< icon to go to the advertising agencies on the map. Click the icon with the gray dollar symbol to go to the banks on the game map. Stock exchange: for gameplay reasons, it is impossible to trade shares of your own or competing car companies. Avoid switching tasks (using Alt-Tab) while running >Car Tycoon< as this will likely cause problems with the display! 4) Known issues =============== Before troubleshooting, always make sure that you have the latest version of DirectX (http://www.microsoft.com/directx) installed, followed by the latest version of your video card and sound card drivers from your manufacturer. Problem: Game is playable, but street graphics are missing: Solution: 3dfx/Voodoo/Banshee problem. Install latest DirectX and latest official drivers for your card from http://www.voodoofiles.com Problem: Game will not start. Solution: Try setting your desktop to 1024x768, 16-bit video mode. Solution: Make sure you have at least 600 MB of free disk space when starting the game. Solution: Try "Repairing" the installation. Assuming that the program is already installed, start the SETUP.EXE program on the CD, and click Repair when prompted. Problem: The mouse pointer is missing/not visible. Solution: Uninstall any 3rd-party mouse drivers, and make sure that the standard Windows mouse driver is installed. Problem: The game fails with an MMSystem error. Solution: Make sure that you have at least version 7.1 of Microsoft Mediaplayer installed. Therefore your first step to solve technical problems should be installing the newest drivers. Most of the problems can be solved in this way. You can get the drivers on the websites of your hardwareïs manufacturers.
