Welcome to BeamBreakers ============================ In this readme file you will find the latest information pertaining to BeamBreakers Contents: 1) System requirements 2) Installing 3) Uninstalling 4) Playing BeamBreakers 5) Troubleshooting 6) Technical support 7) Manual 1) System requirements: Windows® 98/ME/2000/XP DirectX® 8.1 or subsequent version Pentium® II with 400 MHz or comparable processor 64 MB RAM 3-D graphics card with 16 MB RAM Sound card 4-speed CD-ROM drive 500 MB of free fixed disk space 2) Installing: Place the BeamBreakers CD in your computer's CD-ROM drive. The installation process should launch itself automatically. If this is not the case, your CD-ROM drive's "Autostart" function is probably switched off. In this case, please proceed as follows: Double-click on "My Computer" and open the CD-ROM directory by double-clicking on it. Then double-click on the file named "Setup.exe". The installation of BeamBreakers should begin now. To install the game on your computer, select "Install". Then follow the further instructions as provided by the installation program. IMPORTANT NOTES: All other programs running in the background should be closed prior to installation of BeamBreakers. The BeamBreakers CD-ROM must be in the drive whenever BeamBreakers is played. BeamBreakers cannot be played without DirectX 8.1. This program can also be found on the BeamBreakers CD and will be installed automatically if it is not available on your computer. 3) Uninstalling: To uninstall BeamBreakers, go to "Start -> Programs -> BeamBreakers -> Uninstall BeamBreakers". Follow the prompts as provided by the Uninstall program. The program will then be removed from your computer in its entirety. 4) Playing BeamBreakers: Make sure that the BeamBreakers CD has been placed in the CD-ROM drive. Double-click on the "Play BeamBreakers" icon on your desktop, or else select "Play BeamBreakers" under "Start -> Programme -> BeamBreakers". IMPORTANT NOTE: The CD-ROM must always be in the drive if you want to play BeamBreakers! 5) Troubleshooting: With computer games, technical difficulties are usually the result of outdated graphics and sound-card drivers. For this reason, the very first thing you should do in the event of difficulties is install the latest drivers. Doing so usually eliminates whatever problems you were encountering. You can obtain the drivers from hardware manufacturers' web pages . Known problems and their solution: ATI Radeon: If problems arise using driver no. 5.13.01.6015, you should switch to driver no. 5.13.01.6025. Nvidia: If you are using the Detonator 23.11 driver, problems can arise when exiting BeamBreakers. Please install a more recent Nvidia driver. Voodoo: Where these cards are in use, faulty drivers can cause activation of compressed background motifs, even though these cards do not support this. If faulty background motifs should arise during play, please de-activate compressed background motifs or try using a more recent driver. 6) Technical support: Even though this CD-ROM has been carefully produced and thoroughly tested, under some circumstances, depending upon the application platform involved, problems could possibly.
